A HUGE thank you to the Cordova Bay PAC (thank you PAC President, Heidi Low) for organizing a highly informative evening with the White Hatter regarding the importance of supporting our children in becoming great digital citizens. Please visit the White Hatter website to learn more https://www.thewhitehatter.ca/ and for also supporting today's White Hatter presentation for all Grade 4/5 students.

For other great information about Digital Citizenship, please check out the following websites:

  • The Digital Citizen Guide for Parents (Govt. of Canada) is an excellent resource. I especially like their swimming pool analogy, "Think of the internet as a swimming pool: the best way to keep your kids safe there is to teach them how to stay safe." The questions and prompts for parents to guide quality discussions with your child(ren) are exceptional.
  •  Kids in the Know is also a terrific resource that "engages students with interactive activities to help build skills that increase their personal safety and reduce their risk of victimization online and in the real world." https://www.kidsintheknow.ca/app/en/
  • Be Internet Awesome - Digital Citizenship Safety Curriculum helps kids be safe, confident explorers of the online world. https://beinternetawesome.withgoogle.com/en_us

I look forward to ongoing dialogue with our PAC and parents about promoting Digital Citizenship.

Sincerely,

Mary Lynn Heron
