SCHOOL NEWS...

Early Dismissal Reminder:  Early Dismissal for students TODAY AND TOMORROW at 1:48 pm.

Parents/ Caregivers Entering the Building for Meetings or Other Pre-arranged Business:  Thank you to all parents/caregivers for supporting our school health and safety measures. As schools are deemed “controlled environments” it is important that all individuals who enter the building follow the same protocols. Please see the protocols below:

  • Please be sure to make an appt. to enter the school by contacting the teacher directly or phoning the school office at 250-658- 5315
  • Please arrive as close to your scheduled meeting time as you can
  • Wear a mask
  • Hand Sanitize
  • Sign in on sheet at front door
  • Complete Health Check (provided on the table). Do not enter the school if you are unwell.
  • Be sure to check in with teacher or front office on the location of the class
  • Proceed to class directly and do not access restricted areas or common areas
  • If you need to use a washroom, please advise staff who can alert custodial for cleaning/sanitizing
  • Respect physical distancing while in building
  • Please leave the building as soon as possible after your meeting and leave via the nearest exit

REMINDER - Wet Weather Preparedness:    A reminder to parents/guardians to have their children dressed appropriately to go outside as most days children will go outdoors for their breaks.  Rubber boots, waterproof jackets and rain pants are suggested especially if your child likes to play in/near the puddles!  Please send in their backpacks a full change of clothes should they need to change.

Lifetouch Photo Orders:  Lifetouch Photo orders from pictures taken on October 13 are DUE either online at mylifetouch.ca or paper orders (to the office) by Thursday, November 5th.

Lifetouch Photo Retakes:  Photo Retakes will be on Friday, November 13th starting at 9:30 am for students attending in-class instruction. This is for students who missed having their photos done last time or for those that wish a retake photo.  Students having retakes are asked to return their Lifetouch Photo Proof package to the photographer. 

Saanich Schools Mental Health & Wellness Snapshots: The Saanich School District remains committed to wellness and the promotion of positive health in our schools and communities.  In an effort to support mental wellness and social-emotional learning, we will be issuing monthly snapshots, intended as an invitation to learn together as we foster and promote positive health in our own lives, and the lives of those around us.  Please follow the link to access our November Snapshot on Social Media and Screen Time


REMOTE LEARNERS:

Individual School Photos for Cordova Bay REMOTE LEARNERS:  Lifetouch Photos for Remote Learners will take place on Friday, November 13th from 9:00-9:30 am in the GYM.  No appointments will be necessary.   Remote Learners (student and their parent/guardian) are asked to:

  • enter the gym from the undercover area at the back of the school,
  • sign in on the Sign-In sheet on the table,
  • complete a health check form for both adult and student and place in the folder provided.
  • hand sanitize
  • wear a mask (only mandatory for adults)

Parent/Guardian and their student can line up by the Photo Sign for Remote Learners.  Please practice social distancing while you are here for photos. 

PAC NEWS...

Bottle Drive - This Saturday (9am-1pm):  Collect from Friends/Neighbours/Family and drop by to donate. The funds raised will help with the upkeep of our school garden and provide extra materials for teachers.

COPACS Update:  Welcome to our COPACS Rep: Andrew Pape-Salmon.  Andrew attends monthly COPACS meetings with SD Staff, Trustees, other PAC Reps.   Check our PAC Website for important October highlights.  If you have questions or concerns please connect with Andrew andrewpape@shaw.ca.  Next COPACS Meeting - Nov 12 - 7pm via MS TEAMS (see COPACS Website for Link to Meeting) All parents and guardians welcome to join. 

PURDYS - Holiday Fundraiser ON NOW!!!!:  Catalogues will be distributed this week. Online ordering only.  Remote Families can go online and sign in to view the products available or email us to get a catalogue. Customer Number: 9665 (to join our campaign).

  • Order Pickup: Mon, Dec 14 (2:30-3pm Outside Front of School)

Mindful Parenting Zoom-based Workshop:  Please join Dr Mark Sherman and fellow parents in this 2 part Zoom based interactive workshop on mindful parenting in this time of COVID.  Participants will learn skills of mindfulness, wellness and self-compassion to share with themselves, co-parents and children of any age.
