January Mental Health & Wellness Snapshot:  The Saanich School District remains committed to wellness and the promotion of positive health in our schools and communities.  In an effort to support mental wellness and social-emotional learning, we will be issuing monthly snapshots, intended as an invitation to learn together as we foster and promote positive health in our own lives, and the lives of those around us.  Please follow the link to access our January Snapshot on Mental Health Literacy, a topic connected to the upcoming Bell Let's Talk Day on January 28th.

It’s Wet Out There!  A reminder to parents/guardians to have their children dressed appropriately to go outside as most days children will go outdoors for their breaks.  Rubber boots, waterproof jackets and rain pants are suggested especially if your child likes to play in/near the puddles!  Please send in their backpacks a full change of clothes should they need to change as we do not have a change of clothes available at school.

Reporting of Student Absences:  The office really appreciates all the calls regarding your child’s absence to the school Safe Arrival Line at 250 658-4002!  Please ensure that you call each day that your child will be away or provide the dates if they will have an extended absence.  Thank you so much for your help in this this!

PAC NEWS...

PAC General Meeting: Zones of Regulation - Monday, Feb 1st:  Join us at 7:00 pm via Zoom for a presentation and discussion around supporting our children to recognize and work through their emotions:

WHAT ARE THE ZONES?

The Zones is a systematic, cognitive behavioral approach used to teach self-regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel and states of alertness we experience into four concrete colored zones. The Zones framework provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, manage their sensory needs, and improve their ability to problem solve conflicts
