It’s Wet Out There!  A reminder to parents/guardians to have their children dressed appropriately to go outside as most days children will go outdoors for their breaks.  Rubber boots, waterproof jackets and rain pants are suggested especially if your child likes to play in/near the puddles!  Please send in their backpacks a full change of clothes should they need to change as we do not have a change of clothes available at school.

Reporting of Student Absences:  The office really appreciates all the calls regarding your child’s absence to the school Safe Arrival Line at 250 658-4002!  Please ensure that you call each day that your child will be away or provide the dates if they will have an extended absence.  Thank you so much for your help in this this!

PAC NEWS...

PAC General Meeting: Zones of Regulation - Monday, Feb 1st:  Join us at 7:00 pm via Zoom for a presentation and discussion around supporting our children to recognize and work through their emotions:

WHAT ARE THE ZONES?  The Zones is a systematic, cognitive behavioral approach used to teach self-regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel and states of alertness we experience into four concrete colored zones. The Zones framework provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of and inde-pendent in controlling their emotions and impulses, manage their sensory needs, and improve their ability to prob-lem solve conflicts.  Presented by:

  • Ginny Underwood, OT
  • Mara Fedrigo, Counsellor
  • Mary Lynn Heron, Principal

Victoria Coats for Kids:  Victoria Coats For Kids helps children and teens in need stay warm by distributing new or gently worn winter coats, toques, scarves, and mitts. Hillside Centre has been a long-time supporter of this worthwhile cause. In addition to being a ‘drop-off’ location for the winter clothing, we have launched a fun and easy colouring campaign to get students involved. Hillside will donate $1.00 (up to a max. of $1,000) to the Victoria Coats for Kids Association for every colouring sheet (copy attached) returned to Hillside Guest Services by March 31st.
