COMMUNITY NEWS….
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO VOTE for the Victoria Admirals U13 Minor Hockey Team! Players on the Victoria Admirals U13 minor hockey team have just been selected as B.C.’s regional finalist in the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup! The announcement was made during Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday. Our 60-second video pitch, which supports the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island (CHF), was chosen out of many inspiring entries from across the province. Being named a regional finalist means we have already won $2,000 for the CHF!
To make it to the next round and a chance to win the $100,000 grand prize for our charity, we need the support of people everywhere. You can help us by visiting www.gooddeedscup.ca and voting for our team. The voting period is open from Feb. 13-24 and the top three vote getters will be named finalists. The grand prize winner will be announced on March 20.
We would love your help as we compete to be able to gift this funding to the Children’s Health Foundation! The CHF has been helping Island kids and their families for over 90 years. They invest in programs and services to support early childhood development, children and youth living with complex needs, and mental and physical health challenges. A few of the many important programs funded by the CHF that you may be familiar with include the Queen Alexandra Centre, Jeneece Place and both the West Shore and Sooke Child, Youth & Family Centre. Chevrolet’s Good Deeds Cup is a national contest that seeks to inspire young Canadians to do good by transforming the positive values learned through hockey into good deeds within their communities.
