SCHOOL NEWS...

 COVID Safety Reminders:

  • Physical Distancing & Masks:  Thank you to parents for maintaining physical distancing at pick-up and drop-off times and for wearing your masks.
  • Mobile Health Check APP:  Families are encouraged to download and use the mobile Health Check App daily.  
  • Entering the School Building:  Thank you for calling the school office prior to entering the building and for only entering the building at the front door of the school.
  • Wearing of Masks for Grade 4/5 Students:  May we suggest you send your child to school in a clean mask, and with a spare mask, that they are used to wearing.

Reminder Please send a water bottle to school with your child. smile

Year-End Thank You Video to Students:  Premier John Horgan, Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry have prepared a short video to thank B.C. students, including graduates, for their hard work, determination and resilience during this most challenging of school years: 

Freezy Fridays - In Support of the Dirty Wall Project in Mumbai, India:  A HUGE thank you to everyone for supporting last week's Freezie Friday. Despite the rainy, cold weather, last Friday raised $504.00.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • It is important that parents on site for Freezie Friday maintain 2 metres physical distance and please wear a mask, especially if you will be accompanying your child to the Freezie table. 
  • To create a better flow and faster service there are 7 tables for purchasing a Freezie.  Each cohort now has a specific spot where Freezies can be purchasedWe ask that you please review with your child the location indicated below where your child should buy his/her Freezie:
    • Wergeland/Bailey Bales - Table at back of school by Bailey/Bales lineup spot
    • Holmes/Meausette/Mill - Table at back of school by Mill's lineup spot
    • Mitchell/Schultz - Table at back door by Schultz's class
    • Rochon/Mollberg - Table outside Rochon's portable by tree
    • Dutchak/Robinson/Jones - Table outside of Jones's class
    • Challinor/Van Dyk/McKamey/Lockhart - Table along fence at front of school
    • Chan/Haines and Swift-Fry - Table at front of school past the bike rack

PAC Online School Supply Ordering for 2021-22 is Now Open:  Online ordering is now OPEN for ordering School Supplies for the 2021-22 school year.  Monk Office provides 10% of the online sales of school supply kits to our school Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) who use those funds to support initiatives at school!   If you wish, families can order and pay online for their child’s school supplies and they will be delivered to school in early September.  Deadline for ordering supplies that will be delivered to the school is July 18th.  You can order online after July 18th, but will need to pick up the items from one of Monk Office store locations.  See attached PDF for more information.

If you DO NOT wish to order online, school supply lists are available on the school website under PARENTS/FORMS/SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS by grade, and families can choose to purchase supplies from a retailer of your choice.

To order online:

1.  Visit bts.monk.ca and enter your PAC Code on the 'SHOP' page:

    • School Name:   Cordova Bay Elementary
    • PAC Code:  33C716
    • LAST DAY to Order if you Want Your Supplies Delivered to the School:  July 18th

2.  Add your child’s kit (and optional items, if desired) to your cart
3.  During checkout, pay with Visa or MasterCard and choose free school delivery (scheduled by your school for September) or free in-store pickup

Reminder to Register for the School Bus – It Needs to be Done Every Year!   School Bus Registration for 2021/22 is open until June 20, 2021. Please click HERE for all the information regarding bus registration and to register your child for the school bus.  You will need your child’s student number to register and can contact the school office to get it.

Volunteer(s) STILL Needed - Refundables Pick Up from Condo Complex:  Our School has been picking up refundables from a nearby condo complex weekly for many years. It brings in $700 +/year. Looking for 2-3 families wishing to share this job, which means you'd only have to pick up once every 2-3 weeks. For more details contact PAC: cordovabaypac@gmail.com

Saanich Fusion Football Club:  Saanich Fusion Football Club is preparing for a fun and exciting 2021/22 soccer season and registration is now OPEN!   Saanich Fusion promotes the development of soccer skills and physical literacy through a fun and engaging environment for all age groups.  Go to our website at https://www.saanichfusionfc.ca for information on age groups, training times and registration.

Westcastle International Academy (WIA):  WIA will be offering after-school, comprehensive soccer programming at the University of Victoria (UVic) and the Pacific Institute of Sports Excellence (PISE) starting this fall, 2021. WIA will be hosting ID camps over the next few months for players to experience WIA coaching and for coaches to connect with interested players and families.
