SCHOOL NEWS...

Communicable Disease Program Reminders:

  • Pick-up/Drop-off:  Thank you to parents for ensuring that there is no overcrowding at pick-up and drop-off.
  • Mobile Health Check APP:  All families are encouraged to continue doing a Daily Health Check for each child in the household and to follow the prompts provided by the Health Check. If the Health Check prompts you to stay home, contact a health care provider or call 8-1-1 about your symptoms and next steps.
  • Entering the School Building:  Thank you for calling the school office prior to entering the building and for only entering the building at the front door of the school.
  • Wearing of Masks for Grade K-5 Students:  May we suggest you send your child to school in a clean mask, and with a spare mask, that they are used to wearing.
  • Mask Information:  The BC Centre for Disease Control  provides information on the wearing of Masks:

Student School Bus Passes:  Bus Pass cards for students that ride the school bus to Cordova Bay will be distributed tomorrow via their classroom teacher.  Please check that your child(ren) has received it as they will need it when they ride the bus.  For ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ on bussing, please click HERE

NEW Option for Reporting Your Child's Absence:  Parents are invited to use our new ATTENDANCE EMAIL to report that your child(ren) will be late or absent from school. Please continue to email your child’s teacher, but you can now also copy the school attendance email to report their absence:  cordovabay_attendance@saanichschools.ca  The school Safe Arrival Telephone line, (250)-658-4002, is still available to use, but the attendance EMAIL is the preferred method of letting us know that your child(ren) will be away.

Wet Weather Preparedness:  As we get more wet weather, families are asked to have their children dressed appropriately to go outside as most days children will go outdoors for their breaks.  Rubber boots, waterproof jackets and rain pants are suggested especially if your child likes to play in/near the puddles!  A full change of clothes in their backpacks is also helpful should they need to change.

Request for Clothing for Office:  Do you have clothing that your child(ren) may have grown out of and you’d like to donate?  The office is looking for clothing items (pants, t-shirts, long sleeved shirts, socks) to have on hand for those students that may need a change of clothes.  Any sizes are great!  Please drop them by the office.

School Volunteer Information:  Should you wish to volunteer in your child’s class or attend a class field trip, you will need to have a current Criminal Record Check (CRC) on file with the Saanich School District.  All the information can be found on the district website. IMPORTANT:  The CRC process can take four weeks or longer to process.  Don’t be disappointed… apply for your CRC has soon as possible!  CRCs are valid for 3 years.  If you are unsure if you have a valid CRC on file, please contact the school office.

Utensils for Eating Snacks & Lunches:  A reminder for families to please pack utensils for your child so they are able to eat their snack or lunch!
