SCHOOL NEWS...

Ready, Set, Learn Open House:  Parents and preschoolers are invited to attend the Ready, Set, Learn Open House TODAY from 3:30 – 6:00 pm at Cordova Bay Elementary.  See the attached PDF for more information.

School Choir for Grades 1-5:  Choir with Mrs. Heron (guitar accompaniment by Mr. Bocking), starts on Monday, October 15 at lunch in Mrs. Robinson’s room.  Please encourage your child to join in on the fun!

Lifetouch Photo Day:  A reminder that student photos will be taken on Monday, October 15th.

Water Filtering at School:  Although there are signs throughout the school indicating to run the water for at least 30 seconds before drinking, please note that all Saanich schools have been outfitted with filters anywhere there is a drinking fountain or a sink where water is consumed.

Important Reminders....

Parents/Guardian/Volunteers are asked to remember to check in at the office when you to come to school during class time and if you will be staying for a period of time, to also please sign in at the office.  In the event of an emergency, it helps us know know who is in the building.

Hoot n Howl:  Friday, Oct 26 - 5:30-8:00 pm.  Come join your Cordova Bay School Community for some Games, Dinner, Dancing and Gooey Gallery Fun at our Halloween Party.

PAC Guest Speaker - The White Hatter:   November 14th, 7:00-9:00pm.  The White Hatter (Educates Parents and caregivers on internet safety and digital literacy) Brandon Laur will spend 2 hrs with us discussing Hardware/Software Monitoring Options, Online Slang, Emotional/Psychological/Physical challenges around online content and gaming. Things you can do to protect your child, and much more.  Tickets are free, Seats are limited, please reserve your spot as soon as possible:  REGISTER HERE

10th Tsartlip Beaver Troop Open House "Bring a Friend" Night Monday, October 22, 6:30-7:30 pm.  A free event for kids ages 5 to 10 to come and try out Beavers and Cubs for an evening. 

FamilySmart October Programs:

(1) Sleep Tips for Kid's and Teens - Thursday October 18th

Sean Boulet, Occupational Therapist at Ledger House (Island Health), will talk about the importance of sleep for our kids, threats to getting enough sleep, and ways to help them get the sleep they need.   Join other parents to learn strategies to promote sleep and to share in the discussion. If you have been to any of Sean's talks on Anxiety you won't want to miss this one!

(2) Social Media and Video Gaming: How it affecting our Kid's

Join us for an informative presentation on social media trends and video gaming concerns.  Shannon Husk from BC Gaming will cover:

  1. What is problematic ?
  2. Consequences & opportunities,  and 
  3. Ideas, tips and strategies for home.

Trick or Treat at the Parliament Building – October 31st, 3:30-5:00 pm:  Children and families are invited to the Parliament Buildings for a spooky visit and festive treats.  Geared for children 12 and under.
