SCHOOL NEWS...

Early Dismissal Day – October 24 & 25:  Children are dismissed early TODAY and TOMORROW from school at 1:48 pm.

Scholastic Book Fair:  Come check out the Scholastic Book Fair in the Learning Commons TODAY and TOMORROW from 1:48-5:30 pm!

Parent Involvment Meeting – Policy 1100:  Tonight, October 24 at 7:00-9:00 pm at Bayside Middle School.

Choir:  Monday, October 29th is the LAST day for children to sign-up for choir.  

Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day:  Monday, October 29, 8:45 am-9:10 am.  All families are invited to stay on Monday morning for a Family Read-In to celebrate National DEAR Day.  Please join us as we Drop Everything And Read together with schools across Canada!  All students go to their classroom in the morning as usual and instructions will follow from there.  Please remember not to park or block neighbour’s driveways when coming for this event.  Thank you for your support in this.

Biking/Skateboard/Scooter Safety To/From and at School:  Members of the Cordova Bay community have brought to our attention that we have some students being very unsafe on their scooters especially; as well as bikes.  Please take some time to visit the following bike safety website (Bike Safety) and share the information with your child.  The near misses are a very troubling concern and we would like to support at the school with an information session this Friday at little recess for all cyclists and scooter riders.  Mrs. Heron will be speaking to students and supporting this safety piece.

Coats for Kids (and Families):  We are collecting clean, gently used or new coats for kids (and families) until November 10.  Please consider donating to this great cause to help keep Victoria families warm this season! Coats can be dropped off in the marked box in the reception area by the office. 


PAC NEWS...

Hoot n Howl - Friday, October 26, 5:30-8:00 pm:  Come join your Cordova Bay School Community for some Games, Dinner, Dancing and Gooey Gallery Fun at our Halloween Party.   TOMORROW, Thursday, October 25th is the last day to buy tickets from Tammy in the Office.  Tickets and Food can also be bought at the event.

South Vancouver Island Mycological Society – Annual Mushroom Show:  Sunday, October 28th, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Cordova Bay 55+ Centre, 5238 Cordova Bay Road.  See attached PDF for more information.

Trick or Treat at the Parliament Building – October 31st, 3:30-5:00 pm:  Children and families are invited to the Parliament Buildings for a spooky visit and festive treats.  Geared for children 12 and under.

FamilySmart Programs - Managing Screen Time in Children with AD&D:  This special event features local speaker Dr. David Erickson, Ph.D.
