SCHOOL NEWS...

Reminder to Parents:  Parents/Guardians are to use the adult washrooms when visiting the school and are asked to please report to the front office upon arrival.  Thank you.

Jump Rope for Heart:  A BIG THANK YOU to the Cordova Bay families and friends for all your support in the Jump Rope for Heart campaign!  We raised $1,352.00!  

The Power of Why:  The Left-Handed Advantage

Healthy Schools Session:  Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 6:30-8:30pm, Bayside Middle School, 1101 Newton Place, Brentwood Bay.  Parents and Guardians of Grade 5-9 students in the W̱SÁNEĆ and Saanich School District are welcome to join:

  • Michelle Joyce- Central Saanich Police
  • Lux Welsh- Ambit Gender Diversity
  • Nick Sandor - Island Sexual Health

We will discuss what students are learning about substance use, sexual orientation, gender diversity and modern masculinity.  It is free, but please register at Sex and Drug Awareness. See attached PDF for more information.  

Reporting of Student Absences:  A friendly reminder for families to ensure that you contact the school Safe Arrival Line at 250- 658-4002 if your child will be absent from school.  If you’re child will be away for more than one day, please ensure that you call of all the days that you child will be away.  This is a huge help to the Safe Arrival Parent Volunteers.   Thank you!


CORDOVA BAY PAC NEWS...

PICK UP Easter Purdy's:  THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2:30-3pm Outside school office.  If this is not a convenient time, please contact cordovabaypac@gmail.com to arrange an alternate time. 

PAC GENERAL MEETING:  April 23, 7pm, Learning Commons (Library)  We invite parents and guardians to come out and discuss EVERYTHING PAC. We want to hear from you !!!! What fundraisers are working, brainstorm ideas for future PAC funded projects, what types of guest speakers are you interested in?  Hope to see you there.

World Cups - Victoria’s Youth Soccer Festival:  Easter Weekend, April 19th & 20th at Lochside Park.  The Festival’s primary purpose is to have fun and make new friends!  Visit their website to REGISTER.

Cordova Bay Preschool Silent Auction:  Held at the Beach House on Friday, April 12th. Doors open at 6:30pm with bidding starting at 7:00pm.  Join us for amazing food, music and dancing, tons of auction items, 50/50, and door prizes. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased from Krista at rkhenzie@gmail.com.  All proceeds will support Cordova Bay Cooperative Preschool!

Peninsula “1000 X 5” Children’s Book Recycling Project:  This project operates through partnership with School District No. 63 (Saanich).  Since 2008, 141 thousand books have been collected for redistribution for young children and families on the Peninsula.  If you can donate gently-used children’s picture books, please bring them to the school and put them in the box by the office. The books will be forwarded to volunteers who will package them for distribution to young children and families on the Saanich Peninsula.
