SCHOOL NEWS...

Daily Health Check for Families:  Students were given the health check form on orientation day.  Please return the mandatory health check form to the classroom teacher immediately if you have not done so.  A pdf copy is attached should you need one.  Please ensure you use this form (copy on our school website) to check your child for symptoms prior to attending school.  If you answer "Yes" to any of the questions your child should NOT attend school and you should notify the office at cordovabay@saanichschools.ca.  Thank you.

Student Start-Up Information & Verification Form Packages: These packages were sent home with students yesterday.  Please review the Student Verification Form carefully to ensure you child’s information is accurate and make any changes and sign the back of the form.  Please ensure all the blue forms that are applicable are signed as well.  Please return forms to your child’s classroom teacher by September 22.

Students with Life Threatening Conditions:  If you have a student with a life threatening medical condition, please ensure that you check in with the school office to either collect the necessary Medical Alert forms or to insure all your child’s Medical Alert forms on file are correct. Forms were sent home in June for students with medical alerts.  For children who need an Epipen, it is suggested that the office has one and that there is one for your child’s classroom.  Please bring these in as soon as possible.

School Garden:  If you, or someone you know, is interested in supporting our school garden with a donation of tools, materials (soil, compost bins, etc.) or your garden expertise and time, please contact the school.

Reporting of Student Absences:  A friendly reminder for families to ensure that you contact the school Safe Arrival Line at 250 658-4002 if your child will be absent from school.  Please indicate your child’s first and last name and teacher.   If you’re child will be away for more than one day, please ensure that you call of all the days that your child will be away.  Thank you!

Late Students or Students Leaving Early:  If your child will be late, please have them check in at the front school office with Mrs. Cowley.  If your child needs to leave school early, please try to ensure you give your teacher lots of notice.  Students will meet their parents at the front office so they can be signed out.

Wet Weather Preparedness:  As we get more wet weather, families are asked to have their children dressed appropriately to go outside as most days children will go outdoors for their breaks.  Rubber boots, waterproof jackets and rain pants are suggested especially if your child likes to play in/near the puddles!  A full change of clothes in their backpacks is also helpful should they need to change.

Eating Utensils:  As a school, we hope to reduce the amount of plastics we are using. If your child will need utensils to eat their snack or lunch, please send them along with them as we will no longer hand out plastic spoons or forks.

Front Parking Lot During After School Pick Up:  A friendly reminder to parents that during after school pick up, parents are asked not to leave their vehicles unattended while parked in the drive through area of the parking lot.  If individuals parked in the parking lot need to exit their spot, they are not able to and this can be a problem if they are trying to get to appointments, etc.  Thank you for your support in this matter.
