Saanich Budget Consultation Invitation – Virtual Meeting on April 15th:  The Board of Education of the Saanich School District invites you to participate in and contribute to the formation of our budget for 2021/22. Public participation in this process is important for the Board's adoption of a budget that reflects the values, beliefs and priorities of the community.

The Board of Education is seeking your input through completion of a survey and participation in a virtual Community Budget Meeting on April 15th at 7pm. The survey will be primary tool for gathering feedback and closes end of day on April 22, 2021.  The attached background document provides information on the Saanich School District and the 2021/22 budget context and facilitates completion of the survey by those who are unable to attend the virtual meeting.   The survey is available on our website at:  www.sd63.bc.ca

PAC General Zoom Meeting - April 28:  Literacy Session - Fostering a Love of Reading at Home (link will be in next week's PAC News....)

Speakers:

  • Ms. Lisa Kinshella - Reading Recovery and District Early Years - Support Teacher
  • Mrs. Mary Lynn Heron - Principal

Join us for an informal and relaxed evening of sharing and learning about reading. The session will be a Q&A on how to best support your child with reading, especially over the summer months. Lisa and Mary Lynn are passionate about reading and look forward to supporting parents in building a toolbox of reading strategies to make reading joyful not just during summer break but for all times.

From now until Friday, April 16th, Mrs. Heron invites you to send her your questions regarding reading to mheron@saanichschools.ca.  Examples of questions might be: How do I know if a book is too hard for my child to read? What do I do if my child seems to hate reading?, etc. Mrs. Heron and Mrs. Kinshella will use your parent questions to frame the discussion on Wednesday, April 28th.
