Dear Parents/Guardians,

Cordova Bay School continues its tradition of selecting a school-wide theme for each academic year; and for this year, we have chosen the virtue Peacefulness. In assembly today, students were introduced to the virtue through a story about Eagle in The Six Cedars. We learned that Eagle finds peacefulness in the "early hours of dawn when Sun reminds him...that today promises a new beginning." Just like the SUN, we like to remind students that every day promises a new beginning which instills a sense of calm for our students, as they learn new skills.

Teachers and staff will continue to weave this virtue throughout our learning with students. We also encourage parents to point out, whenever possible, times of peacefulness shared with your child(ren) and ideas or suggestions for creating quiet, calm moments throughout the day. I will no doubt experience peacefulness this weekend, as my family and I head out into the wilderness of Sooke to hike and spend some family time together in nature!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

ML Heron
