Last Day of School
Playgrounds: As of June 8th, the playgrounds are open. Yeah! District signage on the play structures outline the following expectations:
- Maintain/minimize physical distance
- Wash hands thoroughly and frequently
- Public/non students/after hours - be prepared and bring your own hand sanitizer
- Avoid touching your face
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or tissue
- Limit use at busy times; do not create a crowd. (During school hours, we will start by supervising 10 students at a time with a marked entrance/exit to the playground during lunch hours and breaks times, so we can comply with this expectation. Thank you for supporting this before and after school. Basketball court is limited to 6 players at a time.)
- Don't share *equipment, water bottles, snacks (*students are to practice one at a time on slides, etc., and to not buddy up on equipment)
- Stay home if feeling unwell - with no exceptions
- This equipment is NOT being cleaned or sanitized
Thank you everyone for supporting this exciting next stage of our Phase 3 return.
2020-2021 Kindie Survey: If you have a child joining us for Kindergarten in the fall, please take some time to complete the survey telling us all about your child. The link for the fill-in form was emailed to all upcoming Kindie families on June 9. If you haven’t received it, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Call Ahead: In order to minimize traffic through the school, visitor access is restricted, until further notice. Parents and caregivers are kindly asked to remain outside of the school, unless an appointment has been made through the school office. Please contact Mrs. Tammy Cowley @ 250-658- 5315 or email@example.com to arrange school access. We acknowledge that restricting school access is very counter to Cordova Bay culture; however, in keeping safety first, we are keen to minimize unnecessary traffic and cleaning of accessed areas.
Class Placement Requests for 2020-21: Please see the attached letter from Mrs. Heron regarding Class Placement Requests for the next school year and the process. Please submit any requests by Monday, June 15, 2020.
Families Leaving Cordova Bay Elementary School: If you have a child in Kindergarten to Grade 4 and your family will not be returning to Cordova Bay Elementary in September, could you please let Mrs. Heron (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Ms. Meausette (email@example.com) know asap for planning purposes. Thank you.
Supporting our Learning Community through Uncertain Times: As SD63 district elementary counsellors we are here to support our Saanich learning community through the challenges of our school district's temporary distance learning program. Each week we will post a new parenting link as well as an educational link for families to work on together. Our goal is not to overwhelm you with more on your plate but to help you manage the feelings of anxiety and uncertainty that we are all experiencing within our families. Working together we can get through this with strength and grace. Please click HERE to visit the webpage.
