SCHOOL NEWS…

Library Books:  Borrowed library books are now DUE BACK

  • If you are attending school, please return all books to your classroom library book basket.
  • If you will not be returning for in-class instruction, please bring your books to the drop box outside the front doors of the school between 9:00am - 1:30pm, Monday to Friday.  Last and final day for book drop-off is Thursday, June 25th.

If you have any questions or concerns, or can't remember what books you have signed out, please contact me at jbales@saanichschools.ca or call the school at 250-658-5315 and ask to speak with me or Ms. Jenkins.  If you are looking for books to read or listen to online, please visit our Virtual Learning Commons at: https://sites.google.com/sd63.bc.ca/cblearningcommons/stories-and-more for lots of ideas.  Thank-you for returning your books.  Mrs. Bales

Lost & Found Items:  Lost and found items will be set up on tables in the undercovered area for parents to look for lost items at the following times:

  • Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24:  BEFORE School
  • June 25:  8:00 am to 3:00 pm

2020-2021 Kindie Survey:  Thank you to all the upcoming Kindergarten parents that have completed the survey.  The link for the fill-in form was emailed to all upcoming Kindie families on June 9 from Mrs. Cowley.  If you haven’t had a chance to complete the form, it is still open to do so.  If you didn’t receive an email link on June 9, kindly email cordovabay@saanichschools.ca.

Remote Learning Survey and a Message from the Superintendent of Schools (Dave Eberwein): As we round out this school year, we want to give our community an opportunity to provide us with feedback on the very unique circumstances we found ourselves in for these past three months.  We are asking staff, students and parents about their experiences with remote learning.   As we prepare for September, we are also waiting for more details from the provincial government on our educational direction.  While we don’t know exactly what school will look like in September, we can prepare for possible scenarios including a full return to in-class instruction or a partial return with remote learning.   We have created a short survey for you to complete, that will provide us with feedback on the remote learning experience from this past spring so that we can learn from it and perhaps make some adjustments for the fall.   Introductory Video & Survey Link: https://www.sd63.bc.ca/c19-review  (The survey will stay open until Wed. June 24th @ 9:00 am.)  Feel free to answer only the questions that you are comfortable answering.  Your feedback is important to us.  We commit to sharing a summary of the themes through our district website once we have collected and reviewed them.  We continue to appreciate your support as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Reminder to Call Ahead:  In order to minimize traffic through the school, visitor access is restricted, until further notice. Parents and caregivers are kindly asked to remain outside of the school, unless an appointment has been made through the school office. Please contact Mrs. Tammy Cowley @ 250 658 5315 or tcowley@saanichschools.ca to arrange school access. We acknowledge that restricting school access is very counter to Cordova Bay culture; however, in keeping safety first, we are keen to minimize unnecessary traffic and cleaning of accessed areas.

Families Leaving Cordova Bay Elementary School:  If you have a child in Kindergarten to Grade 4 and your family will not be returning to Cordova Bay Elementary in September, could you please let Mrs. Heron (mheron@saanichschools.ca) or Ms. Meausette (cmeausette@saanichschools.ca) know asap for planning purposes.  Thank you.
