SCHOOL NEWS...

Communicable Disease Program Reminders:

  • Pick-up/Drop-off:  Thank you to parents for ensuring that there is no overcrowding at pick-up and drop-off.
  • Mobile Health Check APP:  All families are encouraged to continue doing a Daily Health Check for each child in the household and to follow the prompts provided by the Health Check. If the Health Check prompts you to stay home, contact a health care provider or call 8-1-1 about your symptoms and next steps.
  • Entering the School Building:  Thank you for calling the school office prior to entering the building and for only entering the building at the front door of the school.
  • Wearing of Masks for Grade K-5 Students:  May we suggest you send your child to school in a clean mask, and with a spare mask, that they are used to wearing.
  • Mask Information:  The following link to the BC Centre for Disease Control  provides information on the wearing of Masks:  http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/prevention-risks/masks

Lifetouch Individual Student Photos:  Photos will take place on Tuesday, October 12th.  If your child misses this photo day, there will be retakes on November 17 when they can have their photo done.

Wet Weather Preparedness:  As we get more wet weather, families are asked to have their children dressed appropriately to go outside as most days children will go outdoors for their breaks.  Rubber boots, waterproof jackets and rain pants are suggested especially if your child likes to play in/near the puddles!  A full change of clothes in their backpacks is also helpful should they need to change.

Request for Clothing for Office:  Do you have clothing that your child(ren) may have grown out of and you’d like to donate?  The office is looking for a small supply of clothing items (pants, t-shirts, long sleeved shirts, socks) to have on hand for those students that may need a change of clothes.  Any sizes are great!  Please drop them by the office.

Reporting of Student Absences:  A friendly reminder for families to ensure that you contact the school Safe Arrival Line at 250-658-4002 if your child will be absent from school.  Please indicate your child’s first and last name and teacher.   If you’re child will be away for more than one day, please ensure that you call of all the days that your child will be away.  Thank you!

School Volunteer Information:  Should you wish to volunteer in your child’s class or attend a class field trip, you will need to have a current Criminal Record Check (CRC) on file with the Saanich School District.  All the information can be found on the district website:  https://www.sd63.bc.ca/parents-students/school-volunteer-information   IMPORTANTThe CRC process can take four weeks or longer to process.  Don’t be disappointed… apply for your CRC has soon as possible!  CRCs are valid for 3 years.  If you are unsure if you have a valid CRC on file, please contact the school office.

Utensils for Eating Snacks & Lunches:  A reminder for families to please pack utensils for your child so they are able to eat their snack or lunch!
